Four students from Universitas Bangka Belitung (UBB), Aprilia Natasya, Donna Ardilla Aprillia, Muhammad Maulana, and Ruslan participated in a student mobility program from 3 August to 3 October 2023. The program, facilitated by the SUSTAIN Project, was conducted at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), specifically at the Research Center for Politics and Government (PolGov).
For nearly two months, the students were involved in various activities, both internal and external to PolGov. Internally, they were given the opportunity to participate directly in media and research activities. The students contributed to the production of content published on the Department of Politics and Government’s social media channels (@dppugm). In research activities, they collaborated with PolGov researchers to collect supporting data for the preparation of field research on the Energy Extractive Nexus.
Externally, the students took part in several visits to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and traditional oil mining sites in Wonocolo. One of the NGOs visited was Ademos, located in the oil and gas ring-one area of Dolokgede, which is part of the unitization project of the Jimbaran Tiung Biru (JTB) Gas Field. In addition, the students also visited the Bojonegoro Institute and Alterasi NGOs. These visits were conducted to provide insights into NGO organization and operations.
The program also included a field trip to community-run traditional oil wells in Wonocolo, allowing the students to observe firsthand the oil production process carried out independently by local communities.
